Customers can head to Elmer’s starting at 1 p.m. to grab a box combo, which includes two tacos, a mini burrito, chips and a drink. The deal is first-come, first-served, so get there early!
“We have been blessed with this great opportunity. Bluff, he’s known as Bluffin’ Bobby from Las Vegas, and he’s doing a free event for the community,” said Lisa Cuen, owner of Elmer’s Tacos. “It is really special. This is going to be our 51st year, and so we are really blessed to be able to do this. Anything with community we love, and it couldn’t have come at a better time, honestly.”
Cuen says the restaurant is aiming to keep the deal available until 7 p.m. if supplies last.
“We’re hoping seven-o-clock, but until we sell out. He’s buying out our whole shop, so the more people to come, the better for us,” she said.
The restaurant is located at 355 N Arizona Avenue, north of Chandler Boulevard.

CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — A stranger rescued a Chandler family from a house fire on Friday and Arizona’s Family tracked down the humble hero so the family could thank him for his life-saving actions.
“Give him a big, tight hug,” said Liliana Quezada to her son.
“You’re so brave, buddy,” said Nick Arreola while holding him.
It was a special reunion for Quezada and her little boys when they reconnected with Arreola, the man they say saved their lives.
“How are you guys doing?” said Arreola. “We’re still shaken up by everything, we really are. But we’re just grateful to be here,” replied Quezada.
Arreola is an emergency room nurse who was driving home from a 12-hour shift when he saw the fire. A neighbor’s doorbell camera captured the moments after the daring rescue.
“The flames were higher than the roof,” recalled Arreola.
Around 4 a.m. on Friday, Arreola noticed smoke and flames from the road. So he pulled over and banged on the door until the family of five woke up and got out safely.
“I immediately knew something had to be done,” he said.
First responders quickly arrived on scene and Arreola left before they could exchange names. “I was just in the right place at the right time,” he said.
Arreola said he was in a rush to get home because he forgot his phone that day and knew his pregnant wife and young daughter would be worried.
“You just hug each other and just thank God that you’re alive. It just kind of puts life in a different perspective. You see a lot of that in the ER, but when it’s like this close, you’re this close to it, it’s just very emotional,” said Arreola.
Wednesday was their first chance to reflect on what happened together.
“Just holding him, it just took me back to that night when I had him in my arms. You just get a little choked up,” said Arreola.
“We just keep thinking like, if you weren’t here, like what would have happened to us?” Quezada told Arreola.
Quezada believes the encounter was divine intervention. “It was a blessing from God for sure,” she said.
Amid the rubble, a new friendship is blooming. “Just so grateful that there’s good people out there,” said Quezada.
“I really feel like I was put here for some reason,” said Arreola.
What sparked the flames is still under investigation but Quezada said fire investigators told her it appears to have started after lightning hit a toy out on the patio.
Her family lost everything and they need help to rebuild their lives.

CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — Chandler voters will decide whether to approve a $271 million bond for the public school system. The funding would allow schools to maintain basic operations, update computers and improve security systems.
Last year, Chandler voters rejected a larger $487 million bond proposal. Even though this year’s measure requests half that amount, the bond faces challenges.
Republican political consultant Paul Bentz said external factors influence local voting decisions.
“They’re also running up against cable news saying that terrible things are happening in our public schools, many of which are not happening here in Arizona but rather in some place far away from here but these folks don’t have kids in school anymore so they don’t know what’s happening in those schools,” Bentz said.
Another problem is a crowded ballot. Beyond the school bond, Chandler voters will also decide on term limits for the city council and mayor and more money for new parks and public safety.
Alongside these local questions on the ballot, there’s a $1 billion bond to expand Maricopa County’s health care system.
“I certainly think that there are cost considerations. And at the end of the day, some of the folks that really sort of oppose these efforts really are probably tax-driven. That said, there’s also a growing anti-school sentiment, particularly among some segments that’s been perpetuated by cable news and others that impact the overall funding,” said Bentz.
Given all the money voters are being asked to approve, Bentz said voters may not be willing to pay for everything. He also expects a low turnout with older voters who are more conservative when it comes to spending taxpayer money.
Early ballots have been sent to voters. Election Day is Nov. 4.
